The Concerned Citizens of Ghana have urged Nigerian authorities to ensure the safety of employees at Jonah Capital, a Ghanaian-owned company in Abuja, amid reports of intimidation, harassment, and damage to company property.
At a press conference on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra, the group’s Convener, James Clark, expressed concern over reports of attacks on the company’s staff during an ongoing dispute, emphasizing the need for immediate action to protect the rights and safety of those affected.
Mr. Clark called on Nigerian authorities to investigate these allegations and to guarantee that all businesses operating in the country are safeguarded by the law, regardless of their owners’ nationality. He stated, “Act now so that the true rule of law prevails. Treat Ghanaians fairly, just as Nigerians are treated fairly in Ghana.”
The group also appealed to the Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ghanaian High Commission in Nigeria, to engage with Nigerian authorities to protect the interests of Ghanaian businesses and citizens residing and working there.
He emphasized that their concerns were not intended to harm the long-standing diplomatic and economic ties between Ghana and Nigeria. He urged all parties involved to exercise restraint and allow due process to guide the resolution of the issue.
The Concerned Citizens of Ghana further called on regional institutions and relevant authorities to foster dialogue and uphold the rule of law, insisting that workers should not face intimidation or violence while performing their legitimate duties.
This appeal follows growing concerns regarding Jonah Capital’s operations in Abuja, with the group advocating for a peaceful and lawful resolution to the ongoing dispute.
