Camilla Alhassan’s jail: Why is the media, NPP silent on threats she issued….?

Why is the media, some social commentators, and the NPP focusing on only one part of the content of Camilla Alhassan’s video that landed her in jail?

Why are they silent about the threats Camilla allegedly made against the life of the President and his family, which is a criminal offence? Why are they also silent about her accusing the President of being a paedophile, another serious allegation that could have legal consequences?

Why are they only pushing the narrative that Camilla was jailed simply for insulting the President?
I have seen respected individuals such as Kofi Bentil, William Nyarko, Manasseh Azure Awuni amplifying this narrative. Why?

This kind of one-sided advocacy from people who should know better and educate the young ones, coupled with the apparent public endorsement of young people using social media to attack political opponents and others, by high profile personalities like former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is exactly what is making this deviant behaviour gradually become the norm.

When Fanty Comedy and his associates engaged in similar conduct on TikTok and were arrested, a former Vice President, instead of publicly condemning their behaviour, chose to host Fanty Comedy in his office and welcomed him in what many interpreted as a heroic fashion—as though to say, “Job well done.”

Which young political activist would not want the opportunity to meet and embrace their party’s flagbearer or a former Vice President? Almost everyone would. If the highest levels of political leadership in the NPP appear to signal that the easiest way to gain such recognition is through this kind of conduct, then they are encouraging a very dangerous path—one that should be condemned by every well-meaning Ghanaian and rejected in our political culture.

I may one day choose to participate in partisan politics, but not this dirty kind simply to gain popularity. I would rather fight for a just cause and go unnoticed than resort to such tactics in pursuit of fame.
