Lynx Entertainment CEO, Richie Mensah, has pushed back against the idea that artistes must remain with their record labels indefinitely.

Speaking on Joy Prime on June 10, 2025, Richie shed light on how label-artiste contracts work and why it’s natural for artistes to eventually move on.

“It would be selfish to say an artiste shouldn’t leave,” Richie stated. “Record labels are meant to support artistes until they reach a level where they can manage their careers independently.”

He explained that labels invest in nurturing talent. Once artistes grow and gain confidence in handling their careers, they may no longer need the same level of support.

“At that stage, it’s up to them to decide if they want to continue with the label or take a different path,” he added.

Richie’s comments come amid growing debates in the music industry about loyalty, contracts, and creative freedom.
