Gospel singer Selina Boateng has shared that if she had a second chance, she would make changes before entering marriage.
Speaking on Onua FM’s Efie Ne Fie Drive Time with Ohemaa Acheampoma, Selina said marriage has transformed her understanding of life and relationships.
“Marriage has opened my eyes in so many ways. If I had the chance to go back and amend certain decisions, I honestly would, because until you’re inside marriage, you’ll never fully understand it.”
She emphasized that many people enter marriage with idealistic views, only to be met with hard truths. “You may think something is red until you realize it’s green. Or believe it’s white, but it turns out yellow.”
Selina also offered heartfelt advice to singles, urging them to seek spiritual discernment before committing to marriage.
“My prayer for anyone looking forward to marriage is this: May God go ahead of you and grant you Solomon’s wisdom to choose the right partner. Because if you end up with the wrong one, it will be hell. And I say this from experience.”
She cautioned against marrying for superficial reasons like money or fame. “Go on your knees and cry out to God. Ask that the person entering your life is there for the right reasons to fulfill God’s purpose together.”
When asked what she would have done differently, Selina responded candidly: “I would have listened more. People pressure you with: ‘You’re aging,’ ‘Just marry,’ ‘Have kids.’ Don’t listen. Only you know the fire you’re walking into, and only you will endure it.”
