Ghanaian gospel artiste Kofi Owusu Peprah has revealed that he resigned from the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), now the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), to fully pursue his passion for music.

In an interview on Hitz Praise Zone with Nii Noi, the Yesu Nyame Ba hitmaker shared that his exit from the BNI was prompted by a formal query he received during a live radio appearance.

“I’ve been out of the BNI for about four years. I actually received the query letter while I was in the studio for an interview,” he recalled. “That was a defining moment for me.”

He explained that the bureau’s strict ethical code prohibits staff from engaging publicly in music or similar ventures. According to him, he was given a choice: resign from his post or abandon his musical career.

“I was told to either resign or take down everything music-related, YouTube, performances, everything. That’s the ethical standard. So if you’re working there and want to do music, know what you’re signing up for,” he advised.

Known for gospel hits like Big God, Matwen, and Amen, Kofi Owusu Peprah has carved a niche for himself by fusing contemporary gospel with traditional highlife rhythms. His sound has resonated with both older and younger listeners.

He is currently gearing up for a major gospel concert on August 17, 2025, at Cedar Mountain Chapel in Accra. The event will feature live worship sessions, guest artistes, and a celebration of his journey in gospel music.
