Ghanaian rapper King Paluta has expressed joy following news that his hit song ‘Aseda’ was featured in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
In a tweet on June 17, the artist, whose real name is Thomas Adjei Wireko, wrote:
“I don’t know if it’s true, but I heard there was a question in the BECE exams today about me. I’m popping the champagne already.”
The song appeared in Section B of the Music and Creative Arts paper. Question 4(c) asked candidates to identify two major social issues highlighted in Aseda, a track known for blending traditional rhythms with modern hip-hop and reflective storytelling.
The exam question read:
“King Paluta, whose real name is Thomas Adjei Wireko, is a Ghanaian musician known for blending traditional rhythms, storytelling, and modern hip-hop beats in his music. One of his most popular songs, Aseda, carries deep messages that address important issues in Ghanaian society. Identify two of these issues.”

The inclusion of Aseda in the national exam reflects the growing acknowledgment of King Paluta’s influence beyond the music industry. His fans took to social media to celebrate, noting how his work resonates with real societal challenges and contributes meaningfully to public discourse.
The BECE officially concludes today, June 18, with the final Arabic paper. WAEC has praised the smooth conduct of the exams despite minor logistical challenges.
