Ghanaian highlife artiste Fameye has revealed that he invested more than $15,000 in his stage performance at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
In an interview with Hitz FM, Fameye broke down the cost, noting that the budget covered directors, dancers, set design, costumes, and other performance logistics. He said the aim was to deliver a visually and musically impactful set.
“We spent over $15,000. We had to sew custom outfits, build the set, pay two directors, and sort out props and other elements,” Fameye said.
According to him, the spending followed a pre-approved budget submitted to the TGMA organisers. He praised their cooperation, saying, “They did well.”
Despite the investment, Fameye admitted the actual delivery didn’t meet his expectations due to technical hitches on the night.
“It wasn’t the performance we rehearsed. My in-ear monitor failed, and the preset audio didn’t play. My band couldn’t hear anything. It really affected us,” he explained.
He added that while the audience still enjoyed the show, he felt he could have been the standout performer if not for those issues.
Fameye’s comments has sparked renewed conversations around the cost of stage performances and the need for better technical coordination at major music events.
