The Majority Chief Whip, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has called for the immediate interdiction of the Director of Finance at the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources over his alleged role in a controversial GH¢4.8 million vehicle procurement at the Ministry of Defence.
The South Dayi Member of Parliament made the call while addressing issues arising from the procurement, which has sparked concerns about accountability and financial oversight within government institutions.
According to Mr. Dafeamekpor, the seriousness of the allegations warrants swift administrative action, including the interdiction of the official involved, to allow for a thorough and impartial investigation.
The matter is currently before Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, where questions are being raised about procurement processes, value for money, and adherence to financial regulations.
The Majority Chief Whip stressed the need for transparency and accountability, noting that public officials must be held to the highest standards in the management of state resources.
The development adds to ongoing scrutiny of public sector spending, as stakeholders continue to demand stricter enforcement of procurement laws and safeguards against financial irregularities.
