The Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has disclosed that Rans Logistics has refunded GH¢19.1 million to the state following audit findings that cited the company for financial irregularities.
He said the refund was made one week after a special audit report identified the company for overpayment discrepancies and missing grains linked to the 2024 dry spell intervention programme.
Mr. Ampem explained that the recovery forms part of government’s efforts to ensure accountability and safeguard public funds, particularly in emergency interventions.
The audit had raised concerns over procurement and distribution processes under the programme, prompting swift action to retrieve the funds.
The Deputy Minister assured that further steps would be taken to address any remaining issues identified in the report and to strengthen oversight mechanisms.
He reiterated government’s commitment to transparency and prudent financial management in the handling of public resources.
