Legendary highlife musician Agya Koo Nimo has expressed a heartfelt wish to perform alongside Ghanaian dancehall star Shatta Wale before passing on.
In a touching moment captured during an interview with broadcaster Kafui Dey, shared on X (formerly Twitter) on June 12, the 94-year-old icon made a surprise phone call to Shatta Wale, arranged live on air.
Agya Koo Nimo, who has long admired Shatta Wale’s craft, used the opportunity to share his admiration and extend a personal invitation for a joint performance.
“Hello Shatta, my name is Koo Nimo. I want to do one show with you before I die. I am 94. I want to see you in person, so I’m happy to have this opportunity to talk to you. Try to visit me one day,” he said.
Despite being in a wheelchair, the veteran artist radiated warmth and praise for the younger musician. “I love you and I love everything you do. May God bless you,” he added.
Shatta Wale, clearly moved, responded with gratitude and pledged to visit the music legend soon. “God bless you. It’s been my dream to meet you. Since you’ve called me, I’ll make time and come to see you. I’ve always told people about your legacy and how much I respect it. This call has made my day,” he said.
The exchange has since captured hearts across social media, highlighting a rare and touching moment of mutual respect between two generations of Ghanaian music icons.
