Former Ghanaian hiplife artist, Isaac Okai, popularly known as Yaw Siki, has vowed not to receive any revenue generated from his popular hot song “Wopedodo”.
Yaw Siki shot into the limelight when he released “Wopedodo” from his High Technique album in 2011; the song gained both local and international recognition.
According to him, the decision to refuse any form of proceeds from the song is because the song is unholy and he will not perform to it.
Yaw Siki, now a born-again Christian focusing on evangelism, says he would only prefer to accept earnings from the song when it is packaged as a gift without his knowledge, adding that he no longer lives a wayward life.
“I’m sure Killbeatz and co. are the ones handling the revenue from the song. If they give me money generated from that song, I won’t take it unless they package it as a gift without my knowledge. Since I am no longer living that lifestyle, it is an unholy song,” according to a post he made on X.
He stressed that, as a new soul in Christ, he will turn down shows when promoters want the song performed.
“I won’t even go to the show if promoters ask me to perform the song,” he added.
In 2013, Yawa Siki was involved in a near-fatal accident on the Accra-Tema Motorway when Yaw and a friend, the driver of the vehicle, were returning to Tema from Accra after a business meeting.
Yaw Siki has transitioned to a gospel musician and already dropped songs, including ‘Sesa Wosu Aban’ 50/50, Oreba, Gyina (Stand), and Kokrokoo, among others.
