Mr Petty Wilbert Brentum, the Western North Regional Minister, has paid an unannounced working visit to Sefwi Bekwai Senior High School (SHS) in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality.
The visit was part of the Minister’s commitment to promote quality education delivery in the region.
The Minister was impressed with the level of cleanliness and serene learning environment created by the authorities and students in the school.
Interacting with some students and the final year candidates, Mr Brentum said his visit was to acquaint himself with the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), and to wish them well.
He encouraged them to repose confidence in what they had learnt to write the exams and come out with flying colours.
He also advised the candidates to desist from any form of examination malpractices to avoid their papers from being cancelled.
“The Regional Coordinating Council’s doors remained opened to all the schools and stakeholders to discuss ways to help improve educational standards across the region,” the Minister stated.
Mr. Abubakar Djibo, Headmaster to school, used the opportunity to mention some of the challenges facing them including, lack of toilets facilities for the girls, school minibus, fence wall, encroachment of the school lands, and other infrastructural deficits.
The headmaster also appealed to the Minister to ensure the completion of a 14-unit classroom block facility initiated by the Assembly to help enhance teaching and learning in the school.
Responding to the issues, Mr Brentum assured the headmaster that his office, in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly and the Lands Commission would work to address all challenges facing the school.
