Trent Alexander-Arnold confirms Liverpool exit after 20 years

Trent Alexander-Arnold has officially confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. His contract expires on June 30, and he is widely expected to join Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old right-back joined Liverpool’s academy at just six years old. Since making his senior debut in 2016, he has played 352 games and scored 23 goals for the club. Over the years, he helped the Reds secure several major trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, and two League Cups.

In a heartfelt message posted on social media, Alexander-Arnold said, “This is easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made. Liverpool has been my whole world for 20 years, but it’s time for a new challenge.”

Unlike teammates Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, who recently signed new deals, Alexander-Arnold chose to pursue a different path. His decision follows Liverpool’s 20th league title win under new manager Arne Slot.

Moreover, he explained why he waited until now to announce his departure. “I wanted the focus to remain on the team during the title race. Now that we’ve celebrated our achievement, I feel it’s the right moment to speak directly to the fans.”

Liverpool acknowledged his impact, thanking him for his “immense contribution during a sustained period of success.”

As he prepares to leave Anfield, Alexander-Arnold emphasized his desire for growth. “I’ve never known anything else,” he said. “But stepping out of my comfort zone will push me both professionally and personally.”

Without a doubt, his departure marks the end of an era and the beginning of a new chapter abroad.
