Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has denied all rape and sexual assault charges brought against him by the London Metropolitan Police, according to a statement released by his lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire.
“Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him,” Wiltshire said. “He has fully cooperated with the police and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) throughout their three-year investigation.”
The 32-year-old Ghanaian footballer was charged on Friday with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. According to police, the charges involve three separate women, with the alleged incidents occurring between 2021 and 2022.
- Two rape counts relate to one woman
- Three counts involve a second woman
- The sexual assault charge concerns a third woman
Partey, who recently left Arsenal following the expiration of his contract, is set to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5.
Despite the serious nature of the allegations, Partey’s legal team maintains his innocence. “He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name. Given the ongoing legal proceedings, my client will not be making further comments,” Wiltshire added.
The developments come just weeks after reports linked the midfielder to several European clubs, including Juventus and Fenerbahce, following his Arsenal exit.
