Award-winning Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artist, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr, widely known as Shatta Wale has expressed interest in investing in poultry and meat processing.
Shatta Wale made these remarks when he paid a courtesy call on the Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng at the Gomoa Central Special Economic Zone, at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel on Tuesday, February 10.
According to him, the Nkoko Nkitinkiti programme by President John Dramani Mahama is a true inspiration, adding that this is how policy should empower creatives to step into agribusiness, create jobs, and build Ghana.
The initiative was officially unveiled in November 2025 in Kumasi, and it is one of the government’s flagship poultry revitalization programme.
The programme, which is not just a job-creation intervention but a deliberate policy to curb the heavy importation of frozen chicken, will involve distributing three million poultry birds.
It is designed to bring poultry production directly to the doorsteps of every Ghanaian, in homes, in schools and communities across the country.
Beneficiaries will receive birds, feed, and other supplies to start their poultry businesses, transforming subsistence into self-sustaining livelihoods.
According to MP Asare Obeng, the policy will inspire private citizens and creatives to invest, create jobs, and strengthen food security.
He disclosed that Shatta Wale will headline the upcoming Gomoa Easter Carnival, a 4-day street carnival happening this Easter.
The festival will feature masqueraders, jama groups, street artists, food vendors, traditional rulers, and over 25 performing artists; turning Gomoa into a full celebration of culture, music, royalty and enterprise.
Hon. Asare Obeng added that Gomoa Central is open to serious ideas and bold investments.
Shatta Wale is among the few creatives who have invested their resources into business to create employment opportunities.
He has a business which includes Shaxi, a ride-hailing app designed to create jobs, and a real estate development company.
He recently announced his co-ownership of HOTWAV Mobile in Ghana and has a stake in the music industry through his own record label.
