Samini applauds Mahama’s anti-corruption drive

Reggae Dancehall star Emmanuel Andrew Samini has praised President John Mahama and his administration for their strong stance against corruption, especially efforts to hold former government officials accountable.

In an interview on Joy Prime with George Quaye on June 18, Samini, a known supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), expressed satisfaction with the work done by the Attorney-General, the ORAL team, and investigative bodies.

He highlighted the significance of the charges brought against individuals accused of stealing public funds.

“Right now, I’m a happy Ghanaian,” he said. “I like the fact that people are being brought to book and that justice is being served, or at least it seems like it will be.”

Despite his political leanings, Samini applauded the Mahama-led government for prioritizing justice over partisanship. He emphasized that public officials must be held accountable when they misuse state resources.

“As a patriotic Ghanaian, I believe anyone placed in public office should protect the national interest. If they engage in corruption, they should face the law,” he added.

Samini continued, “I won’t pretend or stay silent just because someone I support might be implicated. If there are issues, they must be addressed openly.”

He concluded by commending the judiciary and the presidency for taking meaningful action in the fight against corruption. However, he cautioned that it is still early to judge other areas of governance.

“So far, that’s the area I’ve seen the most action. As for everything else, I think it’s too early to draw conclusions.”
