President John Mahama

John Dramani Mahama has called for sustained investment in women empowerment, stressing that supporting women with opportunities and resources leads to national development.

In a message to mark International Women’s Day 2026, he noted that empowering women had consistently proven to transform families, communities, and the nation as a whole.

He stated that when women were given opportunities, resources, and unwavering support, countries stood to gain significantly from their contributions.

Mr. Mahama urged stakeholders to work towards breaking down barriers that hinder the progress of women and girls, while creating pathways that would enable them to achieve their full potential.

He emphasised the need to ensure that every Ghanaian woman and girl had the opportunity to succeed and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Touching on the theme for this year’s celebration, “Give to Gain,” Mr. Mahama said every investment made in empowering women multiplied into prosperity for the entire nation.

He said empowering mothers, sisters, and daughters would strengthen the country’s development agenda and promote inclusive growth.

Mr. Mahama reiterated the importance of collective commitment to advancing gender equality and creating an environment where women could thrive.
