President Mahama Announces Military Training for 10,000 NSS Personnel Under NSA-GAF MOU

President of Ghana John Dramani Mahama has disclosed that 10,000 National Service personnel will undergo military training following an MOU between the National Service Authority (NSA) and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

Speaking in parliament on Friday during the State of the Nation Address (SONA), the President said the initiative aims to equip young graduates with leadership skills, disaster preparedness capabilities, and a stronger sense of responsibility before their official postings.

According to President Mahama, these NSS personnel will receive call-ups to report at various military centers for training, charging the National Service Authority (NSA) and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) to bring life into the exercise for the benefit of the personnel and the training of our young people.

He stressed that the program was initiated by the late Minister for Defense of blessed memory, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, who was desirous of seeing it to its full execution.

President Mahama added that as a matter of urgency, he has issued a directive to the Ministry of Youth, Development, and Empowerment to review all the youth employment models under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) to reduce the duplication and ensure value for money.

He mentioned that it is prudent to have resources channeled to the advantage of the teeming youth who are waiting for opportunities.
