NDC releases timetable for 2026 internal elections

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has released a comprehensive timetable outlining activities for its 2026 internal elections, covering branch, constituency, regional and national levels of the party.

The roadmap, which details key milestones from January to December 2026, is aimed at ensuring an orderly, transparent and inclusive internal electoral process as the party prepares for future national contests.
Membership registration and branch elections
According to the proposed roadmap, membership registration and update of the party’s register will take place from January to March 2026, supervised by Constituency Executive Committees, with Branch Executives responsible for implementation.
This will be followed by register authentication and clearance in April 2026, after which branch elections are expected to be conducted between May and June 2026. Validation of branch executive data is scheduled for July 2026.

Constituency elections

The NDC has earmarked October 2026 for constituency elections. A detailed constituency timetable indicates that:
Nomination opens from Tuesday, September 15 to Thursday, September 17;
Completion of forms will last one week;
Filing of nominations is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23 to Thursday, September 24;
Vetting will take place from Friday, September 25 to Sunday, September 27;
Appeals will be heard between Tuesday, September 29 and Thursday, October 1, 2026;
Constituency elections are slated for Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25, 2026

Regional elections

For the regional level, nomination for regional positions will open from Tuesday, October 6 to Wednesday, October 7, 2026, with filing scheduled for October 14–15 and vetting on October 16–17. Appeals will be considered on October 18–19.
The roadmap further indicates that Regional Youth and Women elections will be held on Friday, November 13, 2026, while Regional Executive elections are scheduled for Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15, 2026.

National elections and congress

At the national level, nominations for national positions will open from Tuesday, October 20 to Wednesday, October 21, 2026, followed by a 14-day period for completion of forms. Filing of nominations is expected between Saturday, November 7 and Monday, November 9, 2026, with vetting on November 12–13 and appeals on November 15–16.
The party has also scheduled a National Youth and Women Conference for Saturday, December 12, 2026, culminating in the National Congress on Saturday, December 19, 2026.
Party sources say the timetable is intended to give ample notice to members and aspirants while promoting internal democracy and unity within the NDC ahead of the next electoral cycle.
