The Member of Parliament for Central Tongu, Hon. Alexander Roosevelt Hottordze, in partnership with the District Chief Executive, Hon. Addison Dodzi Mornyuiɛ, has launched a bold and forward-looking educational intervention aimed at transforming academic performance across the district.
The Central Tongu District Competitive Common Examination, scheduled for February 26, 2026, will engage students in English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science in what education stakeholders have described as a “game-changing initiative.”
The exercise, spearheaded by the Office of the District Chief Executive in close collaboration with the MP, forms part of a broader strategic vision to reposition Central Tongu as a beacon of academic excellence in the Volta Region.
Speaking ahead of the examination, officials noted that the initiative reflects the proactive and results-oriented leadership style of Hon. Hottordze and Hon. Mornyuiɛ, whose partnership continues to yield tangible developmental outcomes for the district.
The examination is expected to foster healthy competition among schools, identify brilliant but under-supported students, and reward academic excellence while encouraging improved teaching and learning standards.
Education observers in the district have lauded the move as a clear demonstration of political will translated into practical action, emphasizing that the MP and DCE are not merely making promises but implementing impactful policies that directly benefit young people.
The organisers reiterated that investing in education remains a top priority for the district’s leadership, stressing that empowering students with quality education is the surest pathway to sustainable development.
They expressed confidence that the Competitive Common Examination would become an annual flagship programme, further cementing Central Tongu’s reputation as a district committed to excellence and progressive leadership.
