Writing under the open name, Kilo Mike, set to start an Eight-Part Series that proposes hybrid political system to strengthen Ghana’s governance and long-term development.
This eight-part opinion series will be exploring a pragmatic hybrid political system for Ghana is set to be published many Ghana’s media platforms including Awake newspaper, Awake Africa Magazine and online – www.awakenews.com.gh. The series offers a fresh, non-partisan contribution to the national conversation on governance reform in Ghana.
Drawing inspiration from successful political models in Canada, Germany, Rwanda, New Zealand and the United Kingdom, the series examines the structural weaknesses of Ghana’s current political arrangement and presents a balanced, context-specific hybrid alternative aimed at strengthening democratic performance, reducing polarisation and enhancing long-term national planning.
According to the author, the purpose of the series is to “promote constructive dialogue on how Ghana can refine its governance architecture to support stability, improve accountability and accelerate socio-economic development”. The essays explore practical options for power distribution, parliamentary restructuring, civic participation, executive accountability and institutional reform.
The proposed hybrid model is not aligned to any political party, personality or ideological agenda. Rather, it is presented as a national conversation starter for citizens, policymakers, academics, development practitioners and political leaders seeking sustainable governance solutions for Ghana’s next phase of development.
Kilo Mike, a Ghanaian-Canadian development professional with extensive international experience, chooses to write under a pseudonym to ensure that public attention centres on the ideas rather than the individual behind them.
The first article in the series will be released in the coming days in selected print and digital outlets. On the Awake online platforms, can be accessed via www.awakenews.com.gh/kilomike. The public, civil society organisations and political stakeholders are encouraged to engage with the series and contribute to the broader national dialogue on reforming Ghana’s governance system for long-term stability and progress.
