The Majority Chief Whip, Mr. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, has called on operators of microlight aircraft to strictly adhere to maintenance and safety standards following a fatal crash in Tema.
Presenting a statement in Parliament, Mr. Dafeamekpor stressed the need for rigorous compliance with aviation safety protocols to prevent similar incidents in the future.
His call follows the tragic death of two brothers after a microlight aircraft reportedly lost control and crashed in Tema, raising concerns about safety practices within the sector.
He further urged the Ghana Air Force to strengthen collaboration with private aircraft owners to enhance oversight, improve safety standards, and safeguard lives.
Mr. Dafeamekpor noted that the incident had caused deep sorrow to the bereaved family and affected all those connected to the victims.
He emphasised the importance of collective efforts among regulatory bodies, private operators, and security agencies to ensure that aviation safety remains a top priority.
