The 2025 Budget has been described by Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways, Alhassan Suhuyini, as a clear demonstration of President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to fulfilling his promises and restoring public trust in governance.
Speaking on TV3’s New Day, Suhuyini emphasized that the budget addresses the growing skepticism among young people, who often feel that politicians make empty promises to secure votes without intent to deliver.
He argued that this budget counters the notion that politicians only say what people want to hear during campaigns, without any real intention to follow through.
He highlighted that the government’s clear roadmap for implementation sets it apart from previous administrations, showcasing that there are politicians, like President Mahama and the NDC, who not only make promises but are committed to delivering on them.
Suhuyini pointed to the Women’s Development Bank, a key campaign promise that many doubted would come to fruition.
He noted that the initiative was captured in the budget, with funds allocated to make it a reality. According to Suhuyini, not addressing such issues would have only further eroded trust in politicians and democracy.
He also praised the simplicity of the budget, explaining that its clear structure allowed many Ghanaians to see their expectations reflected in it, instilling hope that the economy can be turned around and reset.
