President John Dramani Mahama has promised to attend the Black Stars’ match against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday. Despite admitting that watching football is challenging for him, he expressed his determination to support the team in their pursuit of victory.
Mahama made this commitment during a visit to the Black Stars’ training session on March 19, 2025. He shared, “I’ll take time off and watch the game myself.
Even though my heart is not very good at watching soccer, I will brave it. They say I should eat before I go and sit down. And my hope is that you would justify my sitting and watching you guys. The whole of Ghana is going to be behind you, and I’m sure that you can make it.”
The President encouraged the team to move past their failure to qualify for the AFCON and focus on securing Ghana’s spot in the 2026 World Cup. He believes that if the team delivers strong results in their upcoming games, the people of Ghana will rally behind them.
