In recent times, Ghana has struggled to make an impact on the African continent and the world stage at large.
Ghana, in their last three appearances at the Africa Cup, showed nothing but shambolic performance.
In 2019, held in Egypt, the Black Stars exited at the knockout phase, followed by a group stage embarrassment in Cameroon in 2021.
In Ivory Coast 2023, Ghana once again failed to secure qualification from the group stage following a final group game draw with Mozambique.
Subsequently, Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 edition in Morocco.
Nonetheless, Kurt Okraku has affirmed his desire to clinch a continental title for Ghana.
Speaking to Asaase Radio, Kurt underlined his commitment and desire to see Ghana return to his glory days.
“I want to win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), and that is the fact. Only God knows the number of times we have tried, and we have not been able to win the AFCON title.”
“Basically, I want to win every tournament for Ghana, and I want to place Ghana on the medal podium on any given occasion,” he said.
Kurt lauded the performance of the Black Queens and Black Satellites (U20) in their last continental participation.
“We have not won with the Black Stars, but for the U-20, they won the AFCON, and the Black Queens won bronze at the WAFCON, and they are back again to compete at the WAFCON next month.”
“The Black Starlets, after a number of years, are back at the AFCON, and the Black Princesses just qualified for the last round of the U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, and hopefully they will be at the World Cup. They have been there twice under my leadership,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars are set to compete at the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico in June this year.
