Isaac Dogboe paid my fees and supported me during my challenging times – Daniel Awadzi

Ghanaian professional boxer Daniel Kwabena Awadzi has made a shocking revelation about how UK-based Ghanaian boxer Isaac Dogboe paid for his tuition fees while pursuing a degree program at the Accra Technical University.

According to Awadzi, at a point where he felt all hopes were lost following the unfortunate passing of his mother, Isaac Dogboe was his ‘God in human flesh’ who came through for him.

He emphasized the impact Dogboe made in his life, stressing that the former WBO junior-featherweight champion supported him with money to pay for his funeral contribution while providing him with pocket money for his upkeep.

Speaking exclusively in an interview with LinusNartey TV on YouTube, Daniel Awadzi, a student at the Ghana Communication Technology University currently pursuing a master’s degree (MSc) in Telecommunications Engineering, says he can’t do without mentioning his name to show his utmost gratitude for Dogboe’s immense support.

“At one point Isaac Dogboe paid my school fees, and even when my mom died, he sent me money to pay for the funeral contribution. I also can’t do without mentioning his name. At a point where I knew no family member when my mother died, he was the one who supported me and gave me pocket money for lectures and my fees, and I would say he is my ‘God in human flesh,’ he said.

Explaining how he first met Dogboe and how he established the strong bond with him, Daniel said,

“Before I entered into boxing, I first met Dogboe when I was walking on the street with my friends, and I jokingly said, ‘Why won’t Isaac Dogboe come out of his car so we can throw some shots at each other?’ He said I should first do it among my peers, and when I’m done, then I come to him, but we never had that strong connection. Later I texted him through Instagram, and that was how you remembered me.

Daniel added that Isaac Dogboe hardly ever replied to his messages, but he only hoped that one day he would rekindle their relationship again.

Daniel was a member of Ghana’s Black Rockets (amateur boxing team) that competed in the WBC amateur boxing tournament in Nigeria last year, where he was disqualified for multiple clinching, according to the final verdict from the referee.

Daniel Kwabena Awadzi is an electrical engineer, certified and inducted by the Institute of Engineering and Technology Ghana.
