Owusu Ansah was more than just a player; he was a symbol of discipline, passion, and responsibility, a name that echoes in the corridors of Ghanaian football history, particularly among supporters of Asante Kotoko SC.
According to the silky midfielder, he reflected on the changing landscape of Ghanaian football, particularly the current state of the Ghana Premier League.
Owusu Ansah shared his sentiments, adding that players find it tough to string close passes.
“The standard of the Ghana Premier League is not at its best. The standard is low. It’s difficult to see teams connect up to ten passes,” he told Connected FM.
According to him, the players are tough to control because they lack humility and focus to grow their careers.
“These current Ghana Premier League players don’t even give respect to themselves, unlike in our time. The current players all feel big, and you can’t advise them. Pride is what gets these GPL players feeling they have arrived. Once a journalist starts complimenting them, they turn to believe they have arrived instead of believing hard work is what has got them there,” he added.
From taking up leadership duties with the Porcupine Warriors to making an impact with teenagers in Arizona, USA, the former Asante Kotoko captain remains committed to the beautiful game not just as a participant, but as a guardian of its values.
The Ghana Premier League will enter into matchday 24 this weekend across all match centers.
