The government announced plans to construct approximately 600 Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds by the end of 2025.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, announced during a press briefing. He stressed that this initiative will significantly improve healthcare access, particularly in rural areas where medical facilities are limited.
The new CHPS compounds will provide essential health services, including maternal and child healthcare, vaccinations, and disease prevention programs. By bringing services closer to communities, the government aims to reduce healthcare disparities and enhance overall well-being.
Ofosu also noted that the project aligns with the government’s broader strategy to strengthen the healthcare system and ensure that all Ghanaians have access to quality medical care.
The initiative is expected to create jobs and boost local economies as construction progresses.
