Gabby Otchere-Darko criticizes Arsenal over Partey’s exit

Ghanaian politician and passionate Arsenal supporter, Gabby Otchere-Darko, has strongly criticized the English club for its treatment of Black Stars midfielder Thomas Partey, amid reports of his impending departure.

The 31-year-old is expected to leave Arsenal at the end of June 2025 after four years with the club, following his move from Atlético Madrid in 2020. Despite ongoing discussions about a contract extension, both parties have reportedly failed to reach an agreement.

Arsenal is now said to be eyeing Brentford captain Christian Nørgaard as Partey’s replacement.

Reacting on social media platform X, Otchere-Darko expressed disappointment over the club’s handling of Partey’s situation, claiming the midfielder was not leaving for financial reasons but due to a lack of respect.

“The Thomas Partey I know has not left Arsenal because of more money. It is more because of disrespect,” he wrote. “The club knew when his contract was expiring but chose to look for a replacement rather than negotiate with him to stay.”

He noted that Partey had hoped to stay in London with his young family but felt undervalued despite his solid performances.

“I love Arsenal, but Thomas deserved better and he will be dearly missed,” Gabby concluded.

The post has since sparked widespread discussion among fans, with many echoing sentiments that Partey was underappreciated during his time in North London.
