Franklin Cudjoe slams Ashanti regional minister over political allegations against fire officer

Franklin Cudjoe, President of Imani Africa, has criticized Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene for labeling Alex King Nartey as a politician after the fire officer took a stand on a recent issue.

He questioned the logic behind the Minister’s claims, emphasizing that expressing one’s views should not be tied to political affiliation.

In a post shared on social media, he remarked, “Must everyone belong to a party before they express their views? Was his comment in 2015 responsible for the fire outbreaks we have had?”

Cudjoe further stated that the Ashanti Regional Minister should focus on resolving critical issues such as the congestion in markets rather than diverting attention to unrelated matters.

“The regional minister should focus on helping decongest these markets instead of calling out a fire officer doing his work with a 2015 social media post. What is this?” Cudjoe asked.

The controversy arose when Alex King Nartey, a member of the Ghana Fire Service Public Relations team, publicly criticized the Minister for berating firefighters during the recent fire incident at Adum in Kumasi.

In response, Dr. Amoakohene dug up Nartey’s old social media posts from 2015, which included criticisms of then-President John Dramani Mahama, using them as evidence to suggest that Nartey is politically motivated rather than focused on his duties as a fire officer.

The ongoing back-and-forth has sparked debate on the role of public officials in expressing personal views and whether such opinions should be politically charged.
