Alleged thugs of the New Patriotic Party, NPP are seizing mobile phones and cars allege to be for supporters of the National Democratic Congress, NDC in Amenfi Central.Â
The said action of the NPP thugs is aimed at tomorrow 7th December. 2024, general elections.
Reports picked is that the situation is already heightening tension in the constituency.
The intimidation and harassment in the Amenfi Central Constituency is targeted at rented cars and phones of the NDC supporters.
According sources in the constituency a meeting was held in the evening of Friday 6th December, 2024 between soldiers, the District Chief Executive (DCE), and the NPP constituency Chairman, surprisingly the soldiers were instructed to perpetual the seizure of mobile phones of polling agents on Saturday 7th December, 2024.
Meanwhile the NDC parliamentary candidate Hon. Joana Gyan has urged the NDC agents not to comply, emphasizing that it is unlawful.
The NDC in the constituency considers this development as election rigging machinations against their candidate.
The party emphasized that the ruling NPP government is hell bent on twisting arms to win the seat, adding it is the reason the Electoral Commission previously disqualified their parliamentary candidate.
Efforts to speak to the security personnel handling the case proofed futile.
