Bawumia donates 3,300 bags of rice to support Muslims during Eid-ul-Fitr

In a gesture of goodwill and solidarity, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has made a significant contribution to the Muslim community in Ghana during this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.

Over the weekend, Dr. Bawumia dispatched more than 3,300 bags of rice to Muslims across all sixteen regions of the country, providing support to underprivileged households that often struggle to provide meals during the festive period.

Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, is a time of feasting and celebration.

Muslims around the world commemorate the occasion by coming together with family and friends, enjoying meals, and sharing with those in need.

Dr. Bawumia’s donation was a timely act of charity aimed at alleviating the financial burden on families, ensuring that no one was left hungry during this significant religious event.

Nationwide Distribution

Dr. Bawumia’s rice donation was carried out through regional representatives who were tasked with identifying the most needy individuals in their respective areas.

The distribution covered every region in the country, with the Ashanti Region receiving the largest allocation—480 bags—followed by Greater Accra and the Eastern regions with 350 and 340 bags, respectively.

This regional breakdown reflects the areas with the highest Muslim populations, with Ashanti being a notable center for Muslims in Ghana.

The former Vice President also made a special contribution to the National Chief Imam, presenting additional bags of rice to support those in need within the broader Muslim community.

This gesture underscores Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to supporting religious leaders in their efforts to assist vulnerable members of the society, especially during religious holidays.

This act of charity is not a new endeavor to Dr. Bawumia.

Throughout his public life, he has been involved in various philanthropic activities aimed at improving the lives of Ghanaians, particularly those from marginalized communities.

His generous donation this year follows a long-standing tradition of contributing to social causes, particularly during religious festivals.

In addition to his rice donation, Dr. Bawumia has frequently used his position to advocate for economic policies that aim to uplift the poor and create opportunities for all Ghanaians, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
