Angry Ghanaian narrates how ‘dumsor’ is gradually collapsing his business

An unhappy Ghanaian, who identified himself only as Kofi from Lashibi in the Greater Accra Region, has narrated how the sustained power crisis is impacting his fish farming business.

Kofi, who is into commercial fish farming, revealed on JoyNews’ Super Morning Show on Tuesday, April 23, that the machine he was using to generate oxygen in the fish ponds was damaged. According to him, the machine, which he says cost US$ 8,000, “blew off” the very moment power was taken out some three days ago.

The ‘frustrated’ farmer added that he is now faced with the challenge of changing the water in the pond frequently in order to ensure the fishes get enough oxygen.

“I’m not doing very well at all because the business that I run is being ground, my US$ 8,000 machine that I use to generate oxygen for fish just blew off three days ago.

“I have to try to change the water for the fish day in and day out to raise the oxygen level ….,” Kofi stated.

Ghana is currently experiencing power crisis, something experts warned could lead to the total collapse of the energy sector. The issue started several months ago and it keeps deteriorating each day with no signs of immediate solution in sight.

Meanwhile, the Director of Communication of the ruling party, Richard Ahiagbah, recently admitted that the Dumsor is frustrating.

“The recent power outages have been understandably frustrating. However, there is an end in sight,” he wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
