Akufo-Addo promotes CID Boss, 19 police officers

The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah and some 19 senior police officers have been promoted.

The promotion of the CID boss and five other Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOP), including George Tuffuor – Director-General Finance,  Director-General of Services – Alexander Amponsah Asiamah, George Alex Mensah – Director-General of Operations to the rank of Commissioner of Police (COP) by President Akufo-Addo follows a recommendation by the Police Council.

Eastern Regional Commander, Alphonse Adu-Amankwah and Timothy Yoosah Bonga who is the Northern Regional Police Commander are among the six elevated to the COP rank.

The promoted officers, according to a statement signed by Director of Public Affairs at the Police Headquarters, DSP Shiella Kessie Abayie-Buckman, takes effect April 1, 2019.

Some three Assistant Commissioners of Police have also been elevated to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police while two other officers to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police

‘Two other officers have also been promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police, one officer to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police and eight others to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police,” the statement announced.
