The Deputy Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Amos Blessing Amorse has poured hot water on Mr. Maxwell Opoku Agyemang, the newly appointed Director of Ghana School of Law.
In a Facebook post sighted by Awake News, Amos has accused Mr. Opoku Agyemag of misleading and lying to the prospective law students adding that because of the culture of silence in Ghana the affected students will not be able to complain over his action for the fear of being victimized.
According to Amos, Mr. Opoku Agyemang Maxwell “in the video, told students, and by extension the world, that this year’s entrance examination would be based on five core courses. He said students would no longer be examined on Immovable Property Law.”
This he said made “Students who have been studying for the entrance examinations for this year have all closed their minds to Immovable Property Law and are focusing on the other five examinable courses.”
However, “Surprisingly, there is an advert in the May 14, 2021 edition of the Daily Graphic for admission into the GSL. Guess what, Immovable Property Law is part of the examinable courses.”
Amos said he least expected that action from the new director, someone he described as being with them “social media criticizing the system at GSL for its, sometimes, absurd and draconian directives” adding that “When he was appointed Director of GSL, many of us thought that, for the first time, the GSL would be free from absurd directives, needless show of bravado and crude victimization.”
“I can tell you that Maxwell Opoku Agyemang will getaway with this. No civilized jurisdiction will tolerate this behavior but our beloved Ghana has good heart to tolerate such behaviors. As for the various student Unions, they will not also say anything about it. All that they are interested in nowadays is dues and ladies. Advocacy and activism is lost on them.” – he fumes

Happenings at the Ghana School of Law since Maxwell Opoku Agyemang took over is extremely baffling. Maxwell Opoku Agyemang was with us on social media criticizing the system at GSL for its, sometimes, absurd and draconian directives. When he was appointed Director of GSL, many of us thought that, for the first time, the GSL would be free from absurd directives, needless show of bravado and crude victimization.
At the appropriate time, I will chronicle what Maxwell Opoku Agyemang has done to this institution that we thought he was going in to change things. For now, let’s focus on the video and image I have attached to this short piece. Maxwell Opoku Agyemang, in the video, told students, and by extension the world, that this year’s entrance examination would be based on five core course. This means Maxwell Opoku Agyemang misled the students. In fact he lied to the students. Because of the culture of silence that has been introduced at the GSL, I bet you that, none of the affected students will complain about this. Students who are aiming to be the defenders of rights of people cannot man up to defend their own rights because of fear of victimization.
I can tell you that Maxwell Opoku Agyemang will getaway with this. No civilized jurisdiction will tolerate this behavior but our beloved Ghana has good heart to tolerate such behaviors.
