You are such a mess; a true definition of corruption – Kotoko blasts Akufo-Addo

A member of the National Communication Team of the position National Democratic Congress, Elikem Kotoko has taken on President Akufo-Addo once again but this time, telling him he is “such a mess” and “a true definition of corruption”.

Elikem Kotoko was responding to the President’s post on Facebook that “Office Of The President Responds To Statement Made By Coalition of CSOs Against Corruption

Without missing words, Elikem responded to the post “How about responding to the former VC of Legon, and also Prof Buadi who said your fight against corruption is in tatters, you are such a mess; a true definition of corruption, actually exactly what you are”

President Akufo-Addo last year came under heavy public attack after asking Mr. Yaw Domelevo, the then Auditor-General to proceed on a compulsory 168days leave.

Mr. Domelevo after completed his leave that he described the President’s action as illegal resumed work on March 3, 2021 only for the Audit Service Board Chairman, Prof. Dua Agyemang to issue a letter that his Mr. Domelevo is a Togolese and also has falsified his retirement age.

Mr. Domelevo dismissed the allegations level against him by the Chair of the Auditor-General and resumed work.

The following day, March 4, 2021, President Akufo-Addo through his Secretary, Nana Asante Bedietuo wrote to mr. Domelevo asking him to retire and that information available to the President indicates Mr. Demelevo’s date of birth is June 1, 1960 and not 1961.

This the Civil Society Organisations in the country hit back at the President accusing him of flighting Mr. Domelevo for fighting corruption.

Yesterday, President Akufo-Addo has written a 21-page open letter to Civil Society Organisations in the country, which have accused him of hounding Daniel Domelovo out of office as Auditor-General.

“He was not targeted or chased out of office as has been wrongfully suggested in the public domain,” the statement indicated.

The Coalition of Civil Society Organizations Against Corruption had claimed that the circumstances surrounding the decision to force Mr Domelovo into retirement appear to suggest that the government has lost interest in fighting corruption.

Director of Advocacy and Policy Engagement at the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) at a press conference on March 10, said the sudden retirement of Mr Domelovo is not in accordance with the Constitution as it breaches Article 23 of the Constitution.
