Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Rolf Olson (R) and Hon. Frank Annoh Dompreh, Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyire

Ghanaian social media users are raising serious concerns about the capacity in which the Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, Frank Annoh Dompreh has engaged in a discussion with the United States.

The US Embassy in Ghana has posted on its Facebook page that “Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Rolf Olson welcomed Hon. Frank Annoh Dompreh, Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyire, to the U.S. Embassy”

According to the post, “Their discussion reaffirmed the strong partnership between the United States and Ghana.”

But some Ghanaians are raising a red flag, as one asked:

“What could this guy [Frank Annoh Dompreh] be discussing with the embassy. Was he sent there by the parliament to have a discussion on behalf of the people of Ghana?

“Okudzeto Ablakwa, we need answers to this post made by the embassy,” – he said.

Another also said:

You mean you were discussing issues regarding Ghana with a man who is not in the decision making ring?
What kinda issues could that be?
Another Facebook user also asks:
I have a question was he sent by the minority party to discuss such partnerships affirmations? Or was he sent by parliament through the foreign ministry to lead such discussions for the people of Ghana ?

The Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who is also the MP for North Tongu, is yet to respond to the controversy.
