The National Democratic Congress, NDC, has responded to the President’s statement on the SML and GRA scandal that has consumed national media space over the past week. A statement issued by the National Communication Officer of the party, Sammy Gyamfu during the moment of truth session stated the party’s position on the scandal.
According to Sammy Gyamfi, the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government has been trying to cover up the mess in the deal exposed by the Fourth Estate despite the glaring evidence.
The statement said the NDC supports revenue mobilization efforts but cannot stand the swindling of Ghanaians for personal interest. It said the party strongly abhors any acts that contravene the laws of Ghana even if the intentions are noble.
“…the NDC is not in principle, against revenue assurance,” the statement said, adding that we are against “revenue assurance transactions that are awarded in contravention of the laws of Ghana and the payment of outrageous fees under such illegal transactions.” It continued that the party is also against “illegal and duplicitous revenue assurance transactions that offer no value for money for the State.”
