We won’t sign Peace Pact; we owe it to victims of election violence – NDC

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reaffirmed the party’s decision to boycott the signing of the 2024 election Peace Pact.

Mr. Nketiah, popularly referred to as General Mosquito, stated at a campaign rally in the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency that the NDC will not sign the Peace Pact until the perpetrators of the 2020 election violence and the Ayawaso West Wuogon violence are held accountable.

He said “those leaders urging us to sign the peace pact must understand that every life matters. We cannot allow people to die in pursuit of power. The lives lost during the election must not be in vain. If such actions cannot be held accountable as crimes, we will not sign the peace pact.”

Nketia remarked “We will not let wrongdoers walk free, using the peace pact as a scapegoat. We need to set an example to deter others. We will never sign a pact that allows impunity. We owe it to the victims and their families to seek justice”.
