The father of the four-day-old baby boy, Mohammed Kwame Agyemang, says he wants justice served to the culprit. Latifa Salifu, who stole the baby from the postnatal ward of Mamprobi Hospital in Accra.
On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, a four-day-old baby boy was reportedly stolen from the hospital at Mamprobi in the Ablekuma South constituency.
Following a report from the child’s relatives and health officials at the hospital, the Ghana Police Service quickly began a search for the baby.
Though the baby has been found in a stable and healthy condition and has reunited with his mother (Ms. Ankomah) after the Ghana Police Service launched a search operation after receiving a report from hospital authorities and the child’s family.
The recovery of the baby was facilitated with the support of the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, who played a leading role in coordinating between the police, community members, and the distressed family.
Speaking to TV3, Kwame Agyemang thanked all en sundry for their support and urged that people who perpetuate such crimes should face the full rigors of the law.
“We are content. We have seen that the ministers are doing their best but want justice to serve as a deterrent to those who do these things,” he said.
In response to the incident, the Regional Police Command has introduced heightened security measures at the Mamprobi Polyclinic. Twenty-four-hour police protection has been deployed at the facility to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
Police emphasized that Latifa Salifu remains in custody assisting with investigations and will be put before the court in due course, as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case.
