The University of Ghana has suspended all social events on campus following a resurgence of COVID-19 cases among students and staff.
The decision, announced Thursday, June 26, comes after the University Health Directorate confirmed a wave of suspected and confirmed cases, prompting renewed health precautions.
“All staff, students, and visitors must stay alert and follow preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection and community spread,” the statement urged.
The Office of the Dean of Student Affairs has directed all student-led organizations, including GRASAG, SRC, JCRs, and school associations, to cancel week celebrations and all scheduled events until further notice.
The directive, signed by Professor Rosina I. Kyerematen, aims to protect the campus community amid growing concerns. “These measures are necessary to safeguard the health and well-being of the University community,” she stated.
University authorities have called for strict compliance and community cooperation to contain the outbreak.
