Universities Senior Staff calls off strike

The Senior Staff Association-Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) and the Federation of Universities Senior Staff Association (PUSSAG), have suspended their industrial strike action.

According to SSA-UoG, these institutions have established a road map to ensure a speedy resolution of their demands.

A statement signed by the National Chairman, Zakaria Mohammed on Monday, August 9 and sighted by the Awake News said, “this follows the national labour commission ruling on August 6, 2021, and various intervention made by the Honorable Minister of Education, Honorable Minister of Employment and Labour Relations and the Fair Wages of salaries commissions on behalf of the Government, culminating in a road map that serves as a guide to ensure sincere and fairness In a speedy resolution of all the impass between us and Government”.

Adding, we will continue to engage faithfully with government and other relevant stakeholders in our fight for justice, fairness, and equity in salaries and allowances of administration for our members”.

“I, therefore, call on all Senior Staff across the Sixteen (16) Public Universities in Ghana to resume work without further delay.”

The Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana declared a strike on August 2, in relation to the failure by the government to resolve issues concerning their conditions of service.
