A trotro driver crashed into the fence wall of former President Akufo-Addo’s residence in Nima on the evening of July 16, leaving three people injured, including the driver’s mate.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred around 7:30 p.m., and the vehicle, a green trotro, veered off the road, reportedly due to brake failure, slamming into the heavily trafficked residence wall.
“One of the injured is the mate, he was coughing blood,” a witness said.
All three injured individuals were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The driver is currently in police custody at the Nima Police Station, where he is assisting with investigations.
The residence, situated near the Nima Police Station, lies along a busy transport corridor used by vehicles heading to Accra, Osu, and Nkrumah Circle.
The crash has raised security concerns, especially with the lack of metal barricades between the road and the presidential property.
