Top Government Officials Attend Funeral of Keta MP’s Mother in Volta Region

Top government officials, political leaders, and traditional authorities on Saturday attended the funeral of Presbyter Henrietta Atsufui Avuglah, mother of Mr. Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey, Member of Parliament for Keta, at Anlo-Afiadenyigba in the Volta Region.

The President was represented at the ceremony by the Chief of Staff, underscoring the importance attached to the event and the government’s solidarity with the bereaved family.

Among the dignitaries present were Mr. Bernard Ahiafor, First Deputy Speaker of Parliament; Mr. Mahama Ayariga, Majority Leader; Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister for Foreign Affairs; Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts; and the Volta Regional Minister.

The solemn ceremony brought together political leaders, government officials, clergy, traditional rulers, family members, and sympathisers from across the country to pay their last respects to the late Presbyter Avuglah.

Funeral of MP Gakpey’s Mother in Volta Region

The strong presence of senior government functionaries highlighted the deep respect for the Keta legislator and reflected the close relationship between the late Presbyter Avuglah’s family and the nation’s leadership.

Speakers at the ceremony paid glowing tribute to the late Presbyter Avuglah, describing her as a devoted Christian, loving mother, and community-minded individual who lived a life of humility and service.

The funeral rites, which combined Christian and traditional burial ceremonies, attracted a large gathering of mourners, reflecting what observers described as a major event that brought together key figures within the country’s governance structure.

The late Presbyter Henrietta Atsufui Avuglah is survived by children, grandchildren, and other relatives.
