These kidnappers, Haruna Seidu, 31, Amidu Bande and 40-year-old Osman Bande are said to have engaged police officers in an exchange of fire when the officers tracked them down to rescue a victim at Wapuli in the Yendi District.
The kidnappers are reported to have demanded a Ghc100,000 ransom from the victim’s family.
The suspects numbered four when they engaged the police but one of them managed to escape with wounds.
The police officers retrieved a motorbike which was abandoned during the fire exchange and a Samsung mobile phone.
Two additional motorbikes and a bag containing an amount of GHC 70,000 believed to be part of the ransom paid before the rescue were also retrieved.
