Accra, Aug. 18, GNA – The Ashanti Regional police have arrested three persons following the retrieval of three locally manufactured pistols from them.

Information made available to the Ghana News Agency said on August 17, 2025, at about 1600hrs, personnel detailed for Atwima Trabuom and Nweneso Snap Check duty, with the support of the Foase Patrols team, arrested two suspects, who they brought to the station.
The suspects: Mohammed Ali, 25, and Haruna Issah, 42, both believed to be of Fulani extraction, were nabbed together with three locally made pistols.
The Police indicated that at about 1400hrs, the same day, the team intercepted the suspects riding an unregistered Haojin motorbike.
A search conducted on them led to the retrieval of the three locally made pistols concealed in Mohammed Ali’s small bag.
During interrogations at the Police station, Mohammed Ali stated that he acquired the pistols from a certain blacksmith at Nkawie.
Based on that, investigations were extended to Nkawie, where another suspect, Yaw Appiah, a 55-year-old blacksmith, was identified by Mohammed Ali and was arrested.
A thorough search on Appiah’s premises produced no further incriminating objects.
The Police say the three suspects are in custody assisting investigations while the retrieved pistols (exhibits) have been secured for evidential purposes.
Police say the suspects would soon be arraigned.
