The demise of the young lawmaker, Ernest Yaw Kumi has struck the nation with many asking the cause of his death as there have been no prior information or news about any ailment.

Indeed reports suggested there the Akwatia MP was very healthy and reported no sign ailment util 2:00am this Monday dawn when he claimed on chest pain and was rushed to a hospital in Accra.

According to Mr. Seth Ofosu Birikorang, Former Akwatia DCE in an interview with Asempa FM, the MP was very healthy through out the weekend. He said on Friday, the late MP called him to accompany him to a programme at Effia Constituency in the Western Region.

He narrated that on that Friday, they left Accra round 2pm for Takoradi and were well-received by the Effia MP after which they all went to the programme at the Takoradi Technical University.

He continued that on Saturday morning, the Effia MP, Isaac Yaw Boamah-Nyarko came for late MP to accompany him to a funeral. “Even when he was going, he left his car behind and sat in the Denkyira West MP’s car” – He said.

He said they returned from the funeral in the even after which they headed for the Technical University again for another programme that Saturday evening together with the former Western Regional Minister; Hon. AsafoAgyei Bosome Freho MP, Duaso and the Effia MP.

Mr. Ofosu Birikorang also said on Sunday morning, one of the NPP Chairmen in the Western Region said he likes the late Ernest and that he asks his wife to prepare them food which they hononred the invitation and  left that chairan’s house at around 2pm headed to Accra and they got to Accra yesterday, Sunday around 6:30pm.

Ernest Kumi’s death

According to Birikorang, he had an appointment with the late MP around 2pm today but around 9:30am this morning he said a call from the late MP’s wife saying the MP is sick and has been taken to the Laster Hospital so he should come. He says upon getting there, they told him the MP complained on chest pain in the night around 1am for which the rushed him to the hospital around 2pm.

The MP was given some medications and he was ok. Around 8am, the specialist came and prescribed some drugs but they were given it to him and he was not responding – that is how he died.

His body is currently deposited at the Lashibi Funeral Homes.
