Striking Nurses and Midwives are Witches – NPP activist

A garrulous activist of the governing New Patriotic Party, Rose Obeng is incensed by the ongoing nationwide strike declared by the Registered Nurses and Midwives Association over their conditions of service.

The obviously infuriated self-styled social media communicator of the Akufo Addo government says declaring strike in an election year could only be done by witches.

Reacting to the ongoing strike amidst a support court injunction by the National Labour Commission, Miss Obeng expressed raged on her Facebook wall.

She wrote “they can go to hell no one will fall sick n die. During election year they go on strike, wat improvements has increment on their salaries done to their lives? It’s their own relatives that will visit the hospital during their absence.”

The GRNMA directed its members to withdraw their services from Monday, September 21 until their demands for better conditions of service are met.

According to the Association, the government has failed to improve their conditions of service for the over 82,000 members.

President of the Association, Perpetual Ofori Ampofo on Thursday, September 17 told TV3‘s Daniel Opoku that negotiations with the government over their work conditions did not yield any results.

She also raised issues with non-payment of the allowances for frontline health workers and insurance, which were promised as part of incentives in the fight against Covid-19.

The Association says it has petitioned the National Labour Commission (NLC) over its intended action.
