The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afadzato South, Manfred Tawiah has donated street lights to the Tafi-Atome Monkey Sanctuary, following his courtesy visit to the eco-tourism facility in the District.
The visit was part of the DCE’s efforts to familiarize himself with the operations of the sanctuary and to engage management and staff on their activities, challenges, and contributions to eco-tourism and local development within the district.
During a guided tour of the facility, Mr. Tawiah commended the staff for their dedication to wildlife conservation and their role in promoting tourism in Afadzato South. He noted that the sanctuary remains one of the district’s key tourist attractions and deserves sustained support to enhance its operations.
As a demonstration of the District Assembly’s commitment to the growth of the facility, the DCE donated street lights to the sanctuary. The intervention is expected to improve lighting, enhance safety, and create a more conducive environment for both staff and visitors.
Management of the Tafi Monkey Sanctuary expressed gratitude to the DCE for the support and called for continued collaboration with the Afadzato South District Assembly to further develop the sanctuary and boost tourism in the area.
The Tafi Monkey Sanctuary is a well-known eco-tourism destination in the Volta Region, attracting both local and international visitors and contributing to livelihoods in surrounding communities.
