Spotify pays $100 million to podcasters in Q1 2025

Music streaming giant Spotify has revealed that it paid out over $100 million to podcasters worldwide in the first quarter of 2025.

The announcement, made on April 28 via the company’s website, marks the first time Spotify has publicly shared such payout figures.

According to the platform, the milestone demonstrates its continued commitment to the creator economy and solidifies its position as a global leader in audio and video content.

“These payments include ad-based revenue and earnings through the Spotify Partner Program, which launched earlier this year in select markets,” the company stated. The Partner Program offers more ways for creators to monetize their content.

Spotify first introduced non-music audio and video content in 2015. Since then, the platform has heavily invested in podcasting, notably acquiring podcast production company Gimlet Media in 2019.

In 2024, Spotify recorded its first annual net profit of 1.1 billion euros, and the company is set to publish its Q1 2025 earnings report on Tuesday. Last year, Spotify generated €15.7 billion (approximately $17.9 billion) in revenue.

Spotify concluded its announcement by reaffirming its long-term commitment to creators: “This $100 million payout is just one step in that journey. We’ll continue to invest in new tools, resources, and programs to support creators in all formats.”
